OH! Steve McCurry is one of the few photographers I have very sour feelings for. I was at Angkor Wat [temple complex] in Cambodia and saw this man "directing" a Cambodian boy around when he was taking a photo of him. He was really mean to the kid--saying things like "what is your fucking problem" in a very angry tone.
I was SO DISTURBED by this.
Then I was back in NYC a year later and saw a lecture at ICP with Steve McCurry---and lo and behold, he was the evil photographer!
The moral of the story is that he stages his photos and is not kind to his subjects.
Yes, in Burma, the nuns wear pink robes!!
he said that for sure and also much worse. he had the boy pose with a GUN!!!!!
he was an angry cruel man...
and he's an award-winning, famous photographer who makes so much money off of these people posing for him
